Sample Synagogue Projects
Community Synagogue of Rye comsynrye.org
The Community Synagogue of Rye, New York used their stained glass windows, a strong signature element, as the highlight of their design. Arches break up the boxey squares and achieve a unique and, we feel, an attractive effect.
Temple Mount Sinai www.templemountsinai.org
Temple Mount Sinai has a banner with a skyline familiar to members of their congregation in El Paso, Texas and the site features a photo of the exterior of their building. Mousing over their horizontal navigation causes English to transform into Hebrew and transliteration. Rabbi Bach’s sermons are available online, and TMS was a sponsor of a Darim-built community calendar, reached via links on their page.
Temple Israel Center www.templeisraelcenter.org
Temple Israel Center in White Plains. NY wanted a splash page, where the graphics would make a strong statement about their identity, leaving little room for text. The navigation is interwoven into panels containing fragments of the stained glass windows that establish their identity. Banners on the interior are smaller versions of the banner on HP, with unique images for each category. Mousing over their horizontal navigation causes the English to transform into Hebrew and transliteration.
Temple Israel Boston www.tisrael.org
Temple Israel in Boston is an example of a splash page (See TIC, above). Their site features prominently art from their collection, with which their members are familiar. A photo of a scupture by Louise Nevelson on the façade of their synagogue was overlaid with transparent panels containing their navigation and a menorah also by Nevelson. Their navigation uses the word “Beit’, or ‘House Of’ and clicking on them opens doors to the interior, where designs differs from the first page.
Temple Bnai Torah www.templebnaitorah.org
Using the motif of silk paintings done by a member of their congregation and gracing the interior of the Sanctuary, Darim built a site for Temple Bnai Torah in Bellevue Washington that recreates the feeling of being inside their actual building. The paintings are also apparent in the photo on their Home Page. Mousing over transforms English into transliteration and Hebrew.
Temple Shaarey Tefila www.shaaraytefilanyc.org
This Temple in Manhattan wanted a web site that reflected energy, passion, committment and joy. With wonderful windows in their collection, the colors therein allowed us to use a color theme that reminds visitors of the pleasure of a fruit basket, or a box of Pesach jellied candies. |
